This year’s 4th Banja Luka m:tel half-marathon will be held on a completely new, 21km long, track which spreads through green alleys, parks and the most famous settlements in Banja Luka all the way to the Kastel fortress. The new half-marathon route has also been given the official AIMS certificate, thus placing it on the list of marathon tracks on which one can set records for the Olympic, national, continental and world races.

In addition to setting personal records, our runners will now be able to achieve qualifying times for major world marathons. Holder of the “five-star” certificate from the European Athletics, and the fourth largest marathon in the region, this half-marathon will gather around 2000 contestants from more than 40 countries and, next to the new, attractive running track, it will also take form of a festival enriched with many educational, promotional and entertainment activities.

The new route of the 4th Banja Luka m:tel half-marathon is 21.1 km long and runs, in one lap, through the most beautiful Banja Luka settlements all the way to the Kastel fortress. The track has also been awarded the official AIMS certificate, which places it on the list of half-marathon tracks on which one can achieve results for the Olympic, national, continental and world records.

In order to register and officially become a participant of the Banja Luka half-marathon race, you need to confirm that you agree to the following rules and regulations. The rules apply to all participants of the race so please read them carefully before signing up and filling in the official form for participation in the Banja Luka half-marathon race. By completing the application on our site, you will automatically agree to all terms and regulations. The rules in this document are binding to all runners and organizers and include guidelines related to the race itself as well as for the organization of this sporting event.

The organizer takes responsibility for the safety of runners, and will take all measures possible to ensure that runners are safe. No pets or any vehicle is allowed in the race or at the start / finish line of the race. According to the IAAF and AIMS rules, all runners must leave the race immediately, if asked to do so by an official. If the race gets canceled due to unexpected or unforeseen events and circumstances the signup fee will not be compensated. If a person who has signed up for the race cannot participate in the race, he or she may transfer his or her start fee to the other person, at any time, except on the day of the race.

  • Runners take their participant numbers in Kastel fortress, entrance by the stairs below the walls of the building:
    - Friday, May 11, from 10.00 to 01.00
    - Saturday, May 12 from 6.30 to 8 o'clock
  • Runners gather on Saturday, May 12 - starting at 08.00 a.m., no later than 08.30.
  • Changing of the clothes will be organized in appropriate tents in Kastel Fortress after which competitors can hand over their belongings to volunteers in the wardrobe space. If you leave your belongings in the wardrobe space, you are obligated to mark your bag with the sticker containing your number, which you will find in your participation package. After re-dressing, hand your clothes over to the volunteers. Once the race is finished you can collect your things based on your participant number.
  • All participants are obliged to put their participant number on the chest. Competitors must wear only the number under which they have been registered otherwise they will be disqualified from the race.
  • The participant numbers also have an integrated unique chip. The countdown of your personal time starts the moment you pass through the start, and will be stopped the moment you go through the finish line.
  • All participants of the 4th Banja Luka m:tel half-marathon, on the day of the race, must be on the start line no later than 08.45 o’clock.
  • Participants who do not have their numbers are not allowed in the start zone.
  • Participants are obliged to follow the instructions of the official speaker and the judge at the start line.
  • Pets, baby carriages, roller skates, bicycles or any other type of vehicle with wheels are forbidden in the half-marathon start zone.
  • At 9.00a.m, the sound of the siren will mark the start of the race for all participants of the 4th Banja Luka m:tel half-marathon race, and the runners will start the race from the zone they are assigned to.
  • All competitors must pass the check points on the track. If a competitor, for whatever reason, is not registered at these checkpoints he or she can lose their placement and result, and be disqualified.
  • The time limit for the race is set to 4 hours.
  • Refreshment points are placed at every 2 kilometers along the route. Vivia water will be waiting for you on every refreshment station. We also have a station with fruit as well as one with isotonic drinks and gels placed along the route.
  • Runners who are not feeling well can approach the nearest doctor, medical staff or medical volunteers who will be positioned along the running track together with their medical teams.
  • After they pass through the finish line, all competitors will be given a medal and a bottle of water, after which they should continue walking until they reach the exit.
  • Upon leaving the running zone in Kastel, all participants will be given fruit, refreshment and gifts from sponsors after they show the voucher that can be found in their racing packages.

The G-Drive relay half-marathon race provides an opportunity for all recreationalists and sportsmen, students and work colleagues, or best friends, who like winning as a team. Gather up a team of 3 or 4 members, take your fans with you, conquer kilometers of the new race tracks, and have fun together on the "Vivia Run & More Weekend". Under the slogan "Team4Dream", each member of the group will run 5 or 10 kilometers, depending on how many members are there in a team.

This competition stands for one of the most massive racing events in the world which, today, brings tens of millions of people together. This year Banja Luka is expecting 200 teams, while more than 700 racers will go for the new goal - fortress Kastel. The new 21.1km long Banja Luka track is also intended for the team competition of G-Drive relay half-marathon race, run by teams of 2, 3 or 4 participants. Depending on the number of members in a team, each member needs to run 5 or 10 kilometers. The running track is very straight which makes it ideal for achieving excellent results.

This year, at marked points, the contestants will exchange their batons, and the whole team will be waiting for the last competitor at the end of the track. Together they will enter Kassel.
  • Refreshment points are placed at every 2 kilometers along the route. Vivia water will be waiting for you at every refreshment station. We also have a station with fruit as well as one with isotonic drinks and gels placed along the route.
  • Runners who are not feeling well can approach the nearest doctor, medical staff or medical volunteers who will be positioned along the running track together with their medical teams. The popular "Nektar Fun Run" race brings together citizens of Banja Luka and recreationalists who, in their desire to expand the positive vibration of the Banja Luka half-marathon, run for fun. You will not make a mistake whichever type of participation you choose. You can drive roller-skates or take a walk with friends, bring your grandma and grandpa with you, your baby in a stroller, or you can simply come alone.   • All Nectar Fun Run participants, on the day of the race, must be in the start area by 08.45.
  • Participants who do not have their numbers are not allowed in the start zone.
  • Participants are obliged to follow the instructions of the official speaker and the judge at the start line.
  • Pets and baby carriages are allowed in the start zone. Participants older than 10 are not allowed to come on bicycles and those who come on bicycles and roller skates are required to wear a helmet.
  • At 9.00a.m, the siren will mark the start of the race for all participants of the Nektar Fun Run race, and runners will start the race from the zone they are assigned to.
  • The time limit for this race is set to 40 minutes.
  • Runners who are not feeling well can ask for help from the medical volunteers.

The novelty of this year's Banja Luka m:tel half-marathon is the "Balans+ School Run" race, designed for students of Banja Luka elementary and high schools. The race includes competitions in different categories, for personal, class and school results, on a 700-meter track that starts from Boska and ends at the Kastel fortress. Competition is only one part of this event, which, through entertainment and socializing, brings recreational sports and healthy lifestyle closer to children and teenagers.

Professors and teachers have a mission to motivate students to participate and do their best in this unique sporting event in Banja Luka. Every student will have the opportunity to cheer for their classmates and favorites, and after the competition, all participants and spectators will get a chance to enjoy an unforgettable party at Kastel.

The "Balans+ School Run" track is the newest track on Banja Luka half-marathon race. On this track, which is 700 meters long, pupils of Banja Luka elementary and high schools will get the chance to measure their strenght, setting personal, class and school records.

  • The length of the track is 700 meters.
  • After passing through the finish line, all competitors will get a bottle of Vivia water and a Balans+ meal.

"Tropic Bambini” marathon race is intended for preschool children. It is divided into three age categories. The run will be held on a 250m track. This race has a humanitarian character for which participants pay a participation fee of minimum 2BAM. All the money collected will be donated to children suffering from paraplegia. The youngest marathon participants can either run or walk along the track, by themselves or with the help of an adult, as the main goal of this competition is developing sport habits and having fun with peers.

Princes and princesses, aged 2 to 6, will finish their competition at the Kastel fortress, where medals will be waiting for them together with a rich entertainment program suitable for their age. Love for sport and healthy lifestyle should be developed from the early age, and the first steps of our little ones on the track are a sure sign that the Banja Luka half-marathon has a future.

What does "Fun&Run" stand for is certainly well known to the participants of the humanitarian race "Tropic Bambini Marathon". This is the meeting point for the youngest, who will certainly run the 250-meter track in a heartbeat. Even though they are accompanied by their moms, dads, grandmothers, and grandfathers, it will not stop them from celebrating medals won for the race, on Kastel fortress.

  • All participants are obliged to put their participant number on the chest. Competitors must wear only the number under which they have been registered otherwise they will be disqualified from the race.
  • The participant numbers also have an integrated unique chip. The countdown of your personal time starts the moment you pass through the start, and will be stopped the moment you go through the finish line.
  • All participants of the Bambini Marathon race, on the day of the race, must be in the start zone no later than 17.15.
  • Participants that do not have their numbers are not allowed in the start zone.
  • Participants are obliged to follow the instructions of the official speaker and the judge at the start line.
  • Pets, baby carriages, roller skates, bicycles or any other type of vehicle with wheels are forbidden in the half-marathon start zone.
  • Participants of the Bambini Marathon can run accompanied by an adult.
  • Children aged 2 to 4 run accompanied by their parents.
  • Every registered child up to 4 years of age runs with the help of their educator/trainer, while those of 5 years of age, and older, all school age children, run in groups guided by their teacher/trainer.
  • Parents hand the children over to the trainers at the parking lot in front of Kastel and they wait for them at the finish line, in Kastel fortress (entry by the ETF).
  • The trainers are provided by the organizer.
  • Each parent will receive a duplicate of the participant number, from the organizer, which he needs to show the trainer/educator when taking the child at the finish line. All participants of the Tropic Bambini marathon are obliged to wear selected team tags that match their trainer's tags in order to help finding the team easier after the race finishes.
  • At 5.30 pm the siren will mark the start of the race for participants of Tropik Bambini marathon.
  • The length of the track is 250 meters.
  • Runners who are not feeling well can ask for help from the medical volunteers.
  • By passing through the finish line, all competitors will receive a medal.
  • This race is of a humanitarian character, and participants need to pay entry fee of a minimum 2BAM when they come to collect their competitor numbers.

Minimum entry fee for the Bambini Marathon is 2BAM, and all the money collected for this race, from the youngest participants, will be donated to humanitarian purposes (for children suffering from paraplegia).
